If you’re a golfer who also loves the vibrant city of Sarasota, we’ve got great news for you. Golf is a huge pastime in Florida, and the Sarasota area is no exception. There are many golf courses to choose from in this region and many enthusiastic golfers. Naturally, this means you can find many communities centered around this popular pastime.

At Candy Swick & Company, we’re in love with Sarasota, too. We know the region well, and that includes properties that are near great golf opportunities. We’ve assembled a list of the five best golfing communities in Sarasota for our golf-loving friends.

1. Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club

This location is a great choice for people who love nature. It’s designed to be in harmony with the natural world, and the area has even been designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for wildlife. Heritage Oaks residents can enjoy the five heated pools or the spacious clubhouse, which offers formal, casual, and banquet dining to satisfy any craving. The community also offers outings to beaches, cultural events, and pro sports games.

2. Stoneybrook Golf & Country Club

Featuring an 18-hole course designed by Arthur Hills, Stoneybrook is a welcome challenge for serious golf enthusiasts. The course takes advantage of the natural wetlands in the area, including a water hazard. When you aren’t playing golf, take in the area’s natural beauty or enjoy a tennis game on the courts. You can also work out in the fitness center or enjoy the restaurant in the Country Club. The clubhouse hosts many activities and social events, providing a sense of community among neighbors.

3. Waterlefe Golf & River Club

Tucked right along the banks of the Manatee River, this community has boat ramps and slips for easy access to the water. Residents here at Waterlefe can enjoy an active life even when they aren’t playing golf, with a fitness center, tennis courts, a clubhouse and recreation center, and a dining area to enjoy.

4. Peridia Golf & Country Club

This community is conveniently located just off Route 70. You don’t have to be a member to golf, but many people join so they can take advantage of the amenities, including a swimming pool, tennis courts, and dining in the clubhouse restaurant. The clubhouse hosts social events, such as holiday parties and bingo nights, for a sense of connection with others in the neighborhood. Ample walking paths make it easy to get your steps in and enjoy the scenery at Peridia Golf & Country Club.

5. Oak Ford

You’ll find an appealing combination of open spaces, natural spaces, and city conveniences in Oak Ford. It’s only 20 minutes from downtown Sarasota, but it’s surrounded by lush forest and green space for the best of both worlds. The area has a substantial equestrian community and large acreage parcels. It’s a great place to immerse yourself in the peace of the natural world and watch the wildlife go by without being too far from everything the city has to offer.
