The Best Neighborhoods in Sarasota, FL

Sarasota is a unique and special Florida city, with beautiful beaches right next to the vibrant activities of home. It’s one of those rare places that manages to be full of shopping, dining, cultural events, and fun without being too large. At Candy Swick & Company, we love Sarasota and think it’s a great fit for anyone and everyone. Here are just a few of the reasons we think you would love it here, too.

Is Sarasota a Place to Live?

Sarasota draws folks in with its excellent vacation activities and sunny shores. Some people come here to play and love it so much that they never leave. There are plenty of good reasons for their enthusiasm.

If you’ve spent time in Sarasota, you already know how beautiful the region is and how welcoming the climate can be. For anyone, this means there are plenty of opportunities to get outside and play. Getting around the city is a breeze, too. Everything is accessible and ready for you to enjoy. If you prefer, you can get around the city quickly by car.

When it’s time for school, the city truly shines. Since the Florida Department of Education started ranking public schools in 2004, Sarasota County Schools have earned an A rating. That’s an excellent score every year for the last two decades, so you can be confident they’re ready to provide a top-notch education.

Top Welcoming Neighborhoods in Sarasota

There are plenty of incredible areas to choose from, but here are just a few of our favorites.

Arlington Park

You’ll find this warm and welcoming neighborhood just south of downtown Sarasota. It’s a great place for people who love to play outside, with a lap pool, playground, tennis and basketball courts, a dog park, and miles of walking trails. Arlington Park is an active neighborhood association that provides opportunities for people to gather and form connections, such as seasonal potlucks and outdoor concerts.

Gillespie Park

Houses don’t come up for sale often here because people simply love this location. Many charming bungalows were built in the 1920s and 30s, with loads of charm and good-sized yards. Gillespie Park is close to Main Street but has the casual feel of a classic neighborhood.

Fruitville

On the east side of town, Fruitville offers easy access to Sarasota life and is close to major roadways if you feel like getting out of town and exploring. But there’s plenty to do if you’d rather stay close to home, with shopping, recreation centers, and ample park space.

Laurel Park

This jewel of a neighborhood is just a few blocks from Sarasota Bay. It’s a part of a National Historic District, so it’s full of old Florida charm. You can meet your neighbors at events like Picnic in the Park, which features live music. Laurel Park has amenities for those of all ages such as a playground, splash pad, skate park, and disc golf course to keep everyone happy and busy.
